Overview

The primary responsibility of the Startup & Warranty Technician is in the after-sale service and support of products. In addition to factory-authorized equipment startup, the responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing products after installation to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold the reputations of the equipment manufacturer and Louisiana Steam Equipment. Additional duties include the performance of routine preventive maintenance and repairs, as part of maintenance contracts and paid service.

Since our founding in 1928, Louisiana Steam Equipment Company supplies application-specific heating equipment including hydronic boilers, steam boilers, domestic water heaters, heat exchangers, steam traps, pumps and much, much more. We work with facilities managers, engineers, maintenance technicians, and contractors to develop and integrate smart, reliable solutions to even the most complicated steam or hot water system challenges.

Location

Location, Schedule, and Travel:

· Position is based in the New Orleans, LA area

· Work is typically performed within the sales territory of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama Gulf Coast, and Florida Panhandle.

· Occasional travel outside of territory for factory trips, training, and special projects

· Extensive driving/road travel with roughly 20% overnight

· Work is typically performed during the normal daytime work-week with rare night and weekend requirements.

Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Excellent customer service and customer relationship management
  • Organized and efficient time management
  • Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use common hand tools and testing equipment, such as electrical multi-meter
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, circuits, and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic computer skills with email and MS Office
  • Desire for continuous on the job learning and personal growth

Responsibilities:

  • Perform factory authorized equipment startups, repairs, service, and maintenance on commercial and industrial heating equipment including hydronic boilers, steam boilers, domestic water heaters, pumps, control valves and related system components
  • Generate accurate and detailed service reports, startup, and commissioning documents
  • Generate quotations and proposals to customers
  • Provide owner training as needed
  • Process warranty claims and returns with manufacturers
  • Attend training sessions in-person and online to enhance technical skills
  • Maintain a clean and organized company issued work truck, office space, and warehouse storage area
  • Manage truck inventory of spare parts and tools

Job Tactical Elements:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Boiler, HVAC, Electrical, or similar work experience preferred, but not required
  • Must have authorization to work in the US (no sponsorship), valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check and drug test (no exceptions).
